Please be aware that all Hollyhocks are prone to rust. Although the rust may look unsightly, in our experience it does not often cause any harm to the performance of the plant. This plant is a herbaceous perennial. Herbaceous perennials die back below ground level each autumn, then fresh new growth will appear in the spring.
