Late summer flowering perennias

Late flowering perennials keep the garden colourful long after summer has passed. These plants burst into bloom from August onwards, providing vital colour for both the garden and pollinators heading into autumn. They are perfect for extending the season and creating a warm, late summer glow.

Reliable options include Aster Little Carlow, which produces clouds of violet flowers, and Anemone Honorine Jobert, a wonderful autumn bloomer for sun or shade. Sedum Autumn Joy adds structure and long lasting colour, while Rudbeckia Goldsturm and Helenium Moerheim Beauty provide rich, warm tones. Verbena bonariensis also carries on flowering well into autumn, adding height and movement.

These perennials work beautifully with Ornamental grasses, Gaura, Salvia and Echinacea, creating a natural, meadow inspired look that lasts to the first frost.
