Rudbeckia

Rudbeckia is a standout perennial for bright, late summer colour. Its golden yellow daisy like flowers bring warmth and energy to the garden just as many other plants begin to fade. Reliable, long flowering and much loved by bees, Rudbeckia adds a cheerful glow to borders and containers from midsummer right through to autumn.

One of the most popular varieties is Rudbeckia Goldsturm, known for its rich yellow petals and bold dark centres. It forms neat clumps that return year after year, making it a firm favourite for low maintenance planting schemes. For smaller gardens and patio pots, Rudbeckia Little Goldstar offers the same sunny colour in a more compact form that works beautifully at the front of borders or in mixed containers.

Rudbeckia thrives in full sun and well drained soil, and once established it is very easy to look after. It is drought tolerant, dependable and able to cope with a wide range of conditions, which makes it a great choice for both new gardeners and experienced growers looking for late season impact.

These vibrant perennials pair beautifully with other sun loving plants. Try mixing Rudbeckia with helenium, echinacea or gaura for a lively, pollinator friendly display, or combine it with ornamental grasses to create movement and contrast. Rudbeckia also works well in prairie style planting where its long flowering season blends perfectly with soft textures and warm colours.
