Gaura Whirling Butterflies is a soft, airy perennial that produces clouds of delicate white, butterfly like flowers from early summer right through to autumn. The blooms flutter on slender stems above a loose rosette of foliage, adding gentle height, movement and a naturalistic feel to borders. It fits beautifully into cottage gardens, prairie style planting and relaxed mixed borders, blending easily with grasses and other light, flowing perennials. Pollinators visit the open flowers throughout the season, and the plant returns reliably each year.

This plant is supplied as a young perennial plug around 3 to 5 cm in size. These smaller plants grow on quickly once potted and usually take around eight to twelve weeks to reach the size of a typical 9 cm pot. When your young plant arrives, unpack it straight away and water gently if the compost feels dry. Pot the plug into a small pot using fresh compost and keep the compost lightly moist while the roots establish. Once the plant has grown on and the risk of frost has passed, it can be planted into the garden where it will develop into a healthy, long lasting perennial.
