Gaillardia arista SpinTop Red is a bright, long flowering perennial that produces vivid red blooms with warm golden centres. The daisy like flowers appear from early summer and continue well into autumn, bringing rich colour and steady interest to sunny borders, gravel gardens and pots. This plant is supplied as a young perennial plug around 3 to 5 cm in size. These smaller plants grow on quickly once potted and usually take around eight to twelve weeks to reach the size of a typical 9 cm pot. When your young plant arrives, unpack it straight away and water gently if the compost feels dry. Pot the plug into a small pot using fresh compost and keep the compost lightly moist while the roots establish. Once the plant has grown on and the risk of frost has passed, it can be planted into the garden where it will develop into a healthy, long lasting perennial.
