Is it suitable for cutting

Yes, the long stems make it ideal for cut flowers.

Will it flower in the first year

Yes, with stronger flowering as the plant establishes.

Does it need pruning

Yes, prune in late winter or early spring.

Plant towards the back of a border and soften the base with Nepeta or ornamental grasses.

Our roses are supplied planted in a 4L growers pot with compost and are not sold as bare root. The compost contains enough feed for around 4 months. Roses are dormant from November to March, so although they are sent in pots, they may not yet have rooted into the compost. When planting, the compost may fall away from the roots, this is completely normal and will not harm the plant.
If you prefer not to plant straight away, roses can be left in their pots until March, by which time they will have rooted. If kept in pots, water more frequently.
Roses are carefully pruned during the colder months to encourage strong, healthy growth in spring, so plants may arrive smaller than expected. New growth will appear in spring and plants will grow at least 50cm in their first year.
