More information:

Our roses are not sold as ‘bare root’ (which is when the plants arrive without pots or compost). Our Roses will arrive planted in a 4L growers pot with compost which has enough feed for 4 months. Although our roses are dispatched in a growers pot, the Rose may not have rooted in the growers pot they are sent out in, this is because the roses are dormant from November - March and are not growing at this time of year and therefore will not have produced any new roots in the pot - this means that when you remove  the rose from the pot for planting the compost may fall away from the roots - please do not worry as this is normal and will not harm the plant. Alternatively, if you decide you do not want to plant your roses yet, you can leave them in their pots until March when they will have become rooted. If you do keep them in the growers pots simply ensure you water them more frequently.

Please note:  Our roses are carefully pruned in the colder months to encourage strong, healthy growth in the spring time; therefore, the plant may arrive smaller than expected, however the plant will provide new growth in the spring time and will grow at least 50cm in the first year.

Images are used for illustrative purposes only. Due to the maturity of the plant and the time of the year, plants may not arrive looking like our images.

Common Questions

Yes. Train and tie the stems onto wires, a trellis, or an arch for the best coverage and flowering.

Will it flower in its first year
You may see some flowers in year one, with much heavier flowering once the plant has built stronger framework.

How do I prune it
In late winter, remove dead or weak stems and shorten side shoots. Keep and tie in the main stems to encourage flowering along them.

Planting Ideas

Plant with Nepeta and Salvia at the base to soften the stems, or add ornamental grasses for a more natural look as it climbs.

More Information

Our roses are supplied planted in a 4L growers pot with compost and are not sold as bare root. The compost contains enough feed for around 4 months. Roses are dormant from November to March, so although they are sent in pots, they may not yet have rooted into the compost. When planting, the compost may fall away from the roots, this is completely normal and will not harm the plant.
If you prefer not to plant straight away, roses can be left in their pots until March, by which time they will have rooted. If kept in pots, water more frequently.
Roses are carefully pruned during the colder months to encourage strong, healthy growth in spring, so plants may arrive smaller than expected. New growth will appear in spring and plants will grow at least 50cm in their first year.
