Heather Plants (Calluna, Erica & Daboecia)

Heather plants are hardy evergreen shrubs loved for their vibrant flowers, year-round foliage, and ability to thrive in poor, acidic soils. Flowering across different seasons — from winter through to late summer, depending on the variety — Heathers provide continuous colour and texture in the garden when few other plants do.

Winter-flowering Erica carnea and Erica x darleyensis add cheerful pinks, purples, and whites from December to April, brightening cold months and feeding early bees. Summer-flowering Calluna vulgaris and Daboecia (Irish Heather) take over in warmer months, bringing rich colour to borders, slopes, and pots.

Perfect for rock gardens, containers, or as groundcover, Heather forms neat mounds of foliage that remain attractive all year. Combine several types for multi-season colour, or pair with Conifers, Skimmia, and Heathers for a low-maintenance, wildlife-friendly display that thrives in sun and well-drained soil.
