Deadhead plants spent blooms regularly to encourage new blooms. In late summer, cut back old flower stems to 10-15cm. In spring apply a layer of mulch to the base of the plant.This plant is a herbaceous perennial. Herbaceous perennials die back below ground level each autumn, then fresh new growth will appear in the spring.
