Lythrum salicaria Robin is a striking midsummer perennial with tall spires of rich magenta pink flowers that rise above fresh green foliage. The upright stems add height, movement and strong colour to borders, creating a naturalistic, meadow like feel. It is perfect for damp soils, pond edges and moisture retentive borders, where it grows steadily and attracts bees, butterflies and other pollinators throughout its long flowering season. Robin is reliable, long lived and brings vibrant vertical interest to wildlife friendly gardens.

This plant is supplied as a young perennial plug around 3 to 5 cm in size. These smaller plants grow on quickly once potted and usually take around eight to twelve weeks to reach the size of a typical 9 cm pot. When your young plant arrives, unpack it straight away and water gently if the compost feels dry. Pot the plug into a small pot using fresh compost and keep the compost lightly moist while the roots establish. Once the plant has grown on and the risk of frost has passed, it can be planted into the garden where it will develop into a healthy, long lasting perennial.
