Lavandula angustifolia Munstead is a compact English lavender with soft violet blue flowers and aromatic grey green foliage. It brings a classic cottage garden feel to borders and is well suited to sunny, free draining spots. The summer flower spikes attract bees and other pollinators, while the neat, bushy habit makes it ideal for edging paths, planting in gravel gardens or adding fragrance to seating areas. Munstead is a dependable variety that provides year round structure and a gentle scent when brushed past.

This plant is supplied as a young perennial plug around 3 to 5 cm in size. These smaller plants grow on quickly once potted and usually take around eight to twelve weeks to reach the size of a typical 9 cm pot. When your young plant arrives, unpack it straight away and water gently if the compost feels dry. Pot the plug into a small pot using fresh compost and keep the compost lightly moist while the roots establish. Once the plant has grown on and the risk of frost has passed, it can be planted into the garden where it will develop into a healthy, long lasting perennial.
