Salvia x jamensis Hot Lips is a cheerful, long flowering perennial with distinctive red and white bicolour blooms that appear from early summer right into autumn. The colours often shift with temperature, giving a lively and ever changing display above neat, aromatic foliage. Hot Lips is perfect for sunny borders, gravel gardens, pots and naturalistic planting schemes, where its bright blooms attract bees and other pollinators throughout the season. Its tidy, branching habit adds movement and steady colour to summer displays.

This plant is supplied as a young perennial plug around 3 to 5 cm in size. These smaller plants grow on quickly once potted and usually take around eight to twelve weeks to reach the size of a typical 9 cm pot. When your young plant arrives, unpack it straight away and water gently if the compost feels dry. Pot the plug into a small pot using fresh compost and keep the compost lightly moist while the roots establish. Once the plant has grown on and the risk of frost has passed, it can be planted into the garden where it will develop into a healthy, long lasting perennial.
