This plant is a herbaceous perennial. Herbaceous perennials die back below ground level each autumn, then fresh new growth will appear in the spring. Cut this plant back after flowering. To help protect the roots from frost it is advised to add a thick layer of mulch. Cut back faded flowers in autumn
