Helleborus argutifolius, also known as the Holly Leafed Hellebore, is a bold evergreen perennial that provides striking structure and winter interest in the garden. From late winter into spring, it produces large clusters of nodding, cup-shaped flowers in a soft green shade that stand proudly above its leathery, toothed foliage. The architectural leaves form an attractive clump that remains handsome throughout the year, making it an excellent choice for adding texture and form to borders. Tough, hardy and reliable, this hellebore thrives in partial shade and is particularly valuable for brightening the garden during the colder months.

This perennial is semi-evergreen, this means that it may lose some or all of its leaves in the winter if it is in a particularly colder region or a more exposed garden. Fresh new growth will appear in the spring. Cut the old leaves down to the ground in Jan/Feb as this will help prevent Hellebore leaf spot.
